Chōchin-Oiwa (提灯お岩 or ちょうちんおいわ, Chōchin-Oiwa) is a creature from Japanese folklore.

DescriptionEdit

Originates from a scene from the Kabuki play Yotsuya Kaidan where the vengeful ghost of Tamiya Oiwa emerges from a Chōchin Lantern to haunt her husband Iemon after being betrayed and horribly disfigured by him so he could marry the daughter of his wealthy neighbors.
